Eco Friendly Philosophy

Here at Highfield House we are very keen to embrace an eco-friendly philosophy.

The property is heated through an Air Sourced Heat Pump both upstairs and downstairs. This has been recently installed and is a fully renewable technology that is very efficient. This ensures that the property is kept at a set temperature, and also heats the hot water. Further, as much of the electricity in Scotland is produced in a sustainable way, this adds to the eco credentials.

We also have a heat composting bin in the garden for all food waste. This produces compost much quicker than a standard compost bin. You can also put any food waste in here. The food caddy is provided in the kitchen.

We're very conscious about re-cycling here, with our bin in the kitchen showing all the items that can be re-cycled here in Highland. Glass is taken seperately to glass banks in the local area, which as the host I make sure is carried out after each stay. Items that can be re-cycled include plastics, cans, tins, paper and cardboard.
